Television & video products in France

Article Abstract:

A number of trends are observed in France's television and video products market. TV and video products have the largest share of the consumer electronics market, accounting for 69% of sales in 1992. The market for VCRs and camcorders grew by 34% and 8%, respectively in 1992. Camcorders exhibited the largest growth between the 1988-1992 period at 114%. Information on major manufacturers are presented.

It is stated that the German market for consumer electronics declined by 15% in value terms and over 1% in volume terms in 2003 compared to 2002. The factors responsible for the decline include fierce price competition, high penetration of consumer electronic products and low consumer confidence.
