Indosat watchers consider the stock a questionable call

Article Abstract:

Indonesian Satellite's share prices have steadily dropped as investors worry about lower global phone rates and cross-country phone payments. Accounting rates which operators pay for calls routed to another country have been reduced since substantial payments are made to the phone company on the receiving end. Furthermore, rates for long distance calls have been lowered as many Asian firms continue to lose business to US callback services.

Article Abstract:

Indonesian telecommunications giant Telekomunikasi Indonesia's stocks have become very popular as their value rose by 30% since Nov. 1995. Despite a short lull in Dec. 1995, the company's stock is headed for continued prosperity in 1996 with the influx of foreign investment. Telekomunikasi contributes around 15% of capitalization in the Jakarta securities market, a fact which makes its stocks highly liquid.
