Tesco reports slowing U.K. sales

Holiday business results for UK supermarket chain Tesco PLC prompted a 3.1% decline in shares, to $7.96, as an expected 4% rise in comparable-store sales did not materialize. Tesco reported a 3.1% rise, with total sales increasing by 13% during the period.

Tesco and GMAC launch issues in sterling sector

General Motors Acceptance Corp. (GMAC) and Tesco have issued sterling-denominated offerings in the Eurobond market. Tesco offered a 150 million pounds (250.9 million euros) issue, while GMAC sold a 200 million pounds bond.
