European automakers are offering U.S. buyers delivery programs that offer extra perks such as discounts ranging between 3% and 9% off the vehicle sticker price, with the price including shipping, and for additional fees adding all-inclusive, guided-tour driving vacations. Companies offering these programs include BMW AG, Porsche AG, the Mercedes-Benz unit of Daimler-Benz AG, and Saab of General Motors Corp.

Ailing Saab seeks turnaround by touting aviation roots

Article Abstract:

Saab Automobile AB of Sweden is creating a new marketing campaign around it's roots, the manufacturing of airplanes, "Born From Jets." The 9-2X automobile model will be phased out and plans for a sports utility vehicle have been cancelled, grounding concerns there are too few models to generate profit. The company is a subsidiary of General Motors Corp.

For Nissan, cutting a GM deal could be a double-edged sword

Much is being made of a potential alliance between Nissan and Genera Motors Corp. Major GM shareholder Kirk Kerkorian is encouraging the troubled auto giant to seek a deal with the Japanese car maker. However, many analysts do not see an alliance with GM as necessarily advantageous for Nissan at this time
