Breast-cancer drug wins FDA approval

A new breast cancer drug, Tykerb from GlaxoSmithKline PLC of the United Kingdom has been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for sale in the United States. The drug is especially for advanced breast cancer and for cases that have not responded to other drugs.

Glaxo seeks approval for drug

GlaxoSmithKline PLC of the United Kingdom is seeking United States Food and Drug Administration approval for a weaker version of the medication Xenical. The approval of the over-the-counter weight loss medication would be the first of its kind in the United States.

Merck cervical-cancer vaccine cleared for use in girls, women

Article Abstract:

Gardasil, a vaccine developed by Merck and Company Inc. of the United States to protect women from cervical cancer has been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration. The vaccine protects against four strains of human papillomavirus.
