Thailand's promising entertainment play: home-video distributor CVD is Bangkok bourse's well-kept secret

Article Abstract:

Stock analysts predict CVD Entertainment PCL profits to increase 121% to 115 M baht in 1997. This forecast is a complete turnaround of the company's stock slump in the latter part of 1996. CVD, which is a merger of Thai Magnetic PCL, CVD Entertainment Co. and Media Link Co., was granted exclusive distribution rights to over 80% of Hollywood pictures in Thailand. During its entrance to the stockmarket, shares were priced at 62.33 baht on Aug. 1, 1996 then rose to 80,40 baht on Sept. 13, 1996 which was followed by the slump.

ASEAN takes half steps on trade, security issues

Article Abstract:

The 1995 summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations once more failed to come up with significant strides toward trade liberalization within the region and instead, came up with the usual platitudes such as the opposition to nuclear weapons and the aspiration towards a higher standard of living. With regards to intraregional free trade, the issue on farm product protection became the stumbling block as some countries such as Indonesia refused to eliminate some existing tariffs.

Some of the transactions that he helped broker include BEC World PCL and Cogeneration PCL's IPO and the merger between Robinson Department Store and Central Department Store Group.
