Video cameras are available with a wide range of features and some of these are more useful than others. Sharp Viewcam cameras offer a color screen which is easier to use than a regular viewfinder. The VX line from Panasonic and cameras from Sony offer LCD screens, and playback screens allow users to check the material they have shot to see how interesting it is. Cameras may also offer digital zooms, but their usage can involve a loss of picture quality.

However, bargain hunters must be prepared to line up outside stores under the watchful eyes of security guards hours, even days, ahead of time for a chance at bargains such as 1-yen TVs and 9-yen portable stereos.
