The Dutch market for biscuits & savoury snacks

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the Dutch market for biscuits and savory snacks reveals the steady growth of the industry for most of the 1990s although a slowdown was noted beginning in the middle of the decade. The rate of growth is faster in the snacks sector than in the biscuits sector, which has almost reached its saturation point. The major manufacturers are subsidiaries of multinationals in the Netherlands while the retail market is dominated by large food retailers. The report also includes market forecasts.

The German savoury snacks market

Article Abstract:

A number of trends have been observed in the German snack foods market. The market was valued at 2,039 million German marks in 1995 and experienced a 15% growth in volume and a 2% decline in real value between 1991 and 1995 due to massive discounting. Extruded snacks also exhibited the highest growth during this period at 31%. Nuts had a 31% share of the market in 1995 while environmental issues have become significant factors in packaging.
