Costa Crociere is ranked the largest tour operator in Italy in 1996, with turnover coming largely from receipts from cruises. However, without revenues from cruises, Costa Crociere's turnover for 1996 totalled to L346 billion. Other major tour operators in Italy include Alpitour, which is being represented in three quarters of all travel agencies in Italy, I Viaggi del Ventaglio and Francorosso International. I Viaggi del Ventaglio achieved a boost of 56% in turnover between 1994 and 1996, making it one of Italy's leading tour operators.

The Italian market for tobacco: distribution: retail: vending

Article Abstract:

Tobacconists are the only retailers in Italy allowed to sell cigarettes through vending machines. The law requires the vending machine to be installed within 10 meters of the establishment. The extreme legal requirements have restricted the growth of vending machines in Italy where presently there are only 1,200 machines installed. Because the machines are required to be so close to the store, cigarette sales through vending machines have been very modest as consumers usually opt to go inside the store rather than buy from the machines.
