The Royal Bank of Scotland

The Royal Bank of Scotland's acquisition finance department has invested more than 1 billion pounds sterling in 90 deals, since it was created in October 1993. In 1995 alone, the company completed 43 transactions, representing a total investment of 450 million pounds sterling; a figure which has already been surpassed during the first eight months of 1996. Notable deals of 1996 include 65 million pounds for the Dunlop Slazenger management buy-out.

Bank of Scotland Structured Finance

Article Abstract:

The structured finance unit of the Bank of Scotland has invested 1.9 billion pounds sterling on a total of 117 senior debt transactions. The unit boasts a workforce of 34 in London, Glasgow and Edinburgh; with a new office just opened in Paris, France. The company has clinched the pole position in the KPMG league tables for MBO/MBI senior debt arranging for the last five years. The outlook for 1996 is promising.

Coopers & Lybrand Corporate Finance

In 1995, Coopers & Lybrand Corporate Finance was involved in a total of 67 buyouts, and during the first six months of 1996, 30 deals were made. Notable deals include Dunlop Slazenger and Newsquest. The company has recently restructured its management buy-out specialists into a national team. Regional coverage has been improved and C&L boasts a total of 21 partners involved in venture capital.
