Building a regional presence is very important for a successful national accounting firm, according to Grant Thornton national head of corporate finance Stephen Baker. It is focusing on owner-managed businesses, and makes considerable efforts to be close to its client base. It does not take a purely financial approach, and tries to gain an understanding of the personal aspects of owner-managed businesses.
