Ansbacher to the wall

Article Abstract:

A new financial adviser is being sought by clients of merchant bank Ansbacher, which unexpectedly closed down in November 1998, giving customers just a fortnight's notification. An adviser is needed under regulations laid down by City of London financial institutions. Ansbacher has undergone a restructuring programme which resulted in the redundancy of 11 employees. Ansbacher belongs to the alternative investment market, which claimed action may be taken against the bank because of its conduct.

Charterhouse Bank: time to close the door on corporate finance?

Article Abstract:

Charterhouse Bank has performed badly in the merger and acquisition sector over recent years, a situation which has been exacerbated by the loss of key employees. It has been negatively affected by polarisation in the advisory market, with its traditional mid-corporate market disappearing. Some observers feel that it is now overcoming its difficulties under the leadership of Michael Hepher, while others feel that it may decide to move out of corporate finance altogether.

All change at Charterhouse

Article Abstract:

There have been many changes of senior staff at merchant bank Charterhouse recently. The concern, jointly owned by BHF-BANK and Credit Commercial de France, has also been finding it hard to retain a strong presence in the UK takeover sector. However, it is confident about its future, and its new management team denies that top employees have been driven away by its strategy.
