The Spanish market for fast food: market shares: fast food: operators'

Article Abstract:

TelePizza has secured a market value share of 26.1% making it the most dominant player in the fast food market in Spain in 1997. The strong growth is attributed to its sale to Pizza World, which contributed to a significant share increase of 4.1% between 1995 and 1997. The fast food market being very crowded with TelePizza and McDonald's chains controlling more than 50% of the total market value is further being compressed with the entrance of Burger King and Pizza Hut. The pizzas and burgers sectors represent majority of the market reaching to a combined 70.2%.

The Spanish market for fast food: company profiles: Domino's Pizza (ECARSA) SA

Article Abstract:

Domino's Pizza SA, which is operated by ECARSA, has secured a value share of 1.6% of the pizzas sector from 1994 to 1997 with only 11 outlets in Spain. Domino's, which presented its interest to acquire the Pizza World chain, has been limited due to the high cost of establishing a new outlet in Spain that ranges between Ptas25 million and Ptas28 million. ECARSA posted an estimated sales of Ptas275 million from the Domino's chain in 1994. The chain, which is the Spanish franchise of the US-based pizza chain, puts emphasis on quality and service rather than volume.
