The Spanish market for skincare

Article Abstract:

The skin care market in Spain is a highly developed but unintegrated market. Despite general economic recession, it has continued to grow. Total sales rose 6% to Ptas.28.9 billion at current prices in 1993, representing an annual increase of just over 1% in real terms. The body-care segment rose over 8% to Ptas.5.3 billion and accounted for the highest level of growth in 1993. The facial skin-care segment dominated overall sales and composed 70% of total turnover in 1993.

Solvay's Spanish lessons

Article Abstract:

Belgian multinational concern Solvay, which is involved in alkalis, plastics, processing, peroxides and health care products, has been present in Spain for many years. It now has turnover of more than 24 billion Belgian francs a year in Spain, employing 3,300 people at more than 20 sites. It has found that it Spanish workforce has been extremely committed, and has been able to make substantial improvements to its operations there.
