The art of evasion

Article Abstract:

Many Germans are expected to look for safe tax shelters for their money since the appointment of Oskar Lafontaine as finance minister. Several large banks have been investigated for helping depositors evade taxes. Recent cases have involved funds transferred to banks in countries including Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg, but the advent of the euro may produce a paper trail that helps investigators.

Deutsche's foray into America will offer little to its shareholders

Article Abstract:

Deutsche Bank acquired Bankers Trust to show its commitment to becoming a force in the global investment banking sector. US investment bankers are not impressed because this bank is a second tier bank because all the first tier banks refused Deutsche's acquisition offers. It is important for Deutsche to balance its service offerings to be an effective competitor in the industry.

Berlin rues the cost of capital

Article Abstract:

The German government has initiated a privatization program to raise funds for Berlin's modernization project. Berlin can improve its financial situation and boost its economy through urban renewal projects. The city officials are planning to further reduce Berlin's annual operating deficits and find new funding sources for the city's modernization program.
