The battle of Greenside

Article Abstract:

The Twentieth Century Society (C20) was outraged when faced with the shocking news that Connell, Ward and Lucas' fine Grade II-listed 1937 Greenside house, is illegally demolished by its owner. The Society claimed that David Beadle, the owner of Greenside had no appreciation for modernism, as it emerged that David Beadle proposed to demolish the Surrey house and replace it with a new building he could sell on for a profit.

London plan 'will damage design'

Article Abstract:

The draft London Plan from London mayor Ken Livingstone could lead to interference from planners in building design, according to various business leaders. The organizations CBI and London First feel that the plan could grant excessive power to planners in dictating architecture. A public inquiry on the matter is presently being carried out.

Design codes 'to become law.'

Article Abstract:

The efforts by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister to convert design codes into law, and the resistance by the Royal Institute of British Architects, stating that the draft for the bill is too vague, are discussed.
