The dangers of draining Asia's 'pool of funding.'

Article Abstract:

Long-term economic development in Asia may only be achieved by introducing major economic policy reforms. Asian economies must particularly underscore the elimination of interventionist policies that undermine the growth of capitalists, investors and consumers. The adverse effects of monetary expansion in Asia is best reflected by the futile efforts of the Japanese government to promote demand instead of increasing the financial resources of banks.

Weaving a social safety net for Asia

Article Abstract:

Most of the Asian countries in crisis have not prepared a social safety net for millions of workers who have lost their jobs since the regional economic downturn began. It is now apparent that the neglect of basic social welfare during the region's growth years is a serious mistake. The workers who are now bearing the brunt of the economic turmoil are the very ones who worked in modern factories and companies that had driven Asia's economic boom.
