The digital divide

Article Abstract:

Latinos in Silicon Valley tend not to hold managerial posts in high-tech companies, and only 7% of the workforce of such companies is Latino. Latinos tend to have children young and only 56% complete high school, a figure that is dropping as poorer households see their incomes drop in absolute terms. Educational qualifications are more in demand by employers, and Latinos lack capital to start businesses. Shift work has become common, and nightshift and weekend shift work tends to exclude people using public transportation systems.
