The 'divided' future of architectural education

Article Abstract:

The UK government's Higher Education White Paper includes planned modifications to university funding. Universities will be permitted to choose the amount students are charged, and that could be a burden to architectural students from deprived backgrounds. University of Manchester, University of Cambridge and University of Edinburgh are among the initial universities that may charge the maximum amount.

Small firms slam student debt plan

Article Abstract:

A proposal in the UK's Higher Education White Paper calls for architectural practices to take care of education debts of new staff members. However, small practices feel that they would not be able to pay such costs. The White Paper does not think the proposal can be made to be a legal requirement, but it would expect voluntary compliance.
