'Asians laud us privately.' (Winston Lord)(democracy in Taiwan)(Cover Story)(Interview)

Article Abstract:

The US military and political position in Asia remained consistent during the run-up to Taiwan's 1996 presidential election, claims Winston Lord, Asst US Secretary of State for East Asia and the Pacific. US policy on China and Taiwan continues to be guided by the same, established principles.
