The flexible facade: Cladding manufacturer RedBank hopes to capture the imagination of the UK market with the refined version of LockClad

Article Abstract:

Redbank's new LockClad cladding system, consists of interlocking terracotta tiles fixed to aluminium rails. The system has been used by Slough Estates in the UK, on its Flex Building in Slough. The aim was to produce a flexible building, with office space at the front, overlooking a full-height 'shed', but with no structural barrier between the two. The use of LockClad enables panels to be replaced with windows or vice versa.

Locking in to LockClad

Article Abstract:

Clay product producers Red Bank and Procter and Lavender are selling LockClad tiles in the UK for the first time. The tile, available in a variety of sizes, originates from France. It is inexpensive to purchase and install at 80 pounds sterling per square meter. It is straightforward to use, hard-wearing and aesthetically pleasing. Its hooked lips interlock with tiles above and below it, making it unlikely to come off.
