The growth of securitisation

Article Abstract:

Securitisation is likely to be used more in Europe as public and private partnership (PPP) initiatives to fund new projects may increase. The continued use of PPP in the UK is also likely to lead to the utilization of securitization as a method of raising finance. Securitisation allows companies needing finance less strict covenants, a longer time period to pay off the debt and cheaper interest costs. It is used by governments, banking institutions and firms as a method of financing. Investors buy securities which give them the right to a share of future cash flow in the company.

Raising finance in the current climate

Article Abstract:

The CAMPARI criteria required to encourage a bank to consider finance provision includes character, with integrity and track record high on the list. Borrowers should assume that some cash will be needed towards the cost of an acquisition, and the banker will be seeking a realistic term for the loan. The bank must also be convinced that the transaction has been fully assessed and is soundly based. Other issues include repayment and insurance.
