The impact of urban structure on the location of producer services

Article Abstract:

A study designed to estimate the density functions and gradients associated with the locations of services in Milan, Italy, revealed that theoretical expectations were seen on density curves created from data on the location of producer services and a quadratic exponential shape was shown by the location's pattern. Several indices and coefficients were studied for understanding further the interrelation between services and space at the intra-urban level. A comparative analysis has been created on the effects of a new underground line to detect the effect of urban structures on services locations.

Services and metropolitan centres: the expansion and location of business services

Article Abstract:

The growth of business services is analyzed using Spain's services sector as a model. The close relationship of localization to expansion is best seen not as an exclusive product of demand but also of supply factors such as production cost advantages, existence of qualified professionals and strategic locations such as cities and other urbanized centers. Spain demonstrates such a trend, also common among European countries, particularly in the existence of defineable service concentration in specific zones within metropolitan areas.
