Keep politics out of the law

Article Abstract:

It is vital that judges and lawyers in Hong Kong take care to ensure that political considerations are not permitted to cloud their judgement on legal matters. It is likely that Hong Kong's courts will have to deal with cases which have significant connections with politics. In these cases, judges must make their decisions on the basis of legal considerations alone, paying no attention to possible political repercussions. Only in this way will they be able to prove the independence of Hong Kong's judiciary.
