Research reviewing the literature of deteriorating inventory is presented. Particular attention is given to models of deteriorating inventory and to their classifications according to characteristics determined by the shelf-life of inventoried products.

Article Abstract:

A production-inventory model for a deteriorating item having a linear time-dependent demand and a uniform production rate is presented. The optimal number of production cycles that minimizes the average cost is determined and the sensitivity analysis of the optimal solution is carried out.
