The results of insurance firms

Article Abstract:

Czech Republic: According to the Czech Association of Insurance Companies (CAIC), the members of which have more than a 99% share on the local insurance market, total prescribed premiums amounted to CEK 69.2 bil in 2000. The sum was 10.8% higher compared to 1999. The prescribed premiums in the field of life insurance reached CEK 22.8 bil in 2000, 14.3% more compared to 1999. The prescribed premiums in the field of non-life insurance was CEK 46.4 bil in 2000, 9.2% more compared to 1999. The companies paid compensations worth about CEK 33.8 bil in 2000, 4.1% less compared to 1999. They settled 1.872 mil of insurance events in 2000. The Czech insurance sector had 15,836 employees in 2000.

Insurance firms balanced

Article Abstract:

Kooperativa pojistovna (KP) (Prague, Czech Republic), insurance company, expects the volume of its life insurance to increase by 20-30% per year by 2003-2004. The volume of KP's life insurance increased by more than 100% in 2000 compared to 1999. KP increased the volume of its total prescribed premiums by 60% to CEK 11.991 bil in 2000 compared to 1999. KP's preliminary gross profit amounted to about CEK 250 mil in 2000. KP is the second largest insurance company in the Czech Republic with a 21% share on the Czech insurance market.

Union Pojistovna decreased its loss in 2000

Article Abstract:

Union pojistovna (UP) (Ostrava, Czech Republic), insurance company, saw a loss of CEK 7 mil in 2000 compared to a loss of CEK 12.8 mil in 1999. According to UP's management, the reason for the 2000 loss was an increase in costs on the formation of reserves for the newly launched types of insurance. UP is a part of the financial group Union Group (Czech Republic).
