The rewards of foreign radio sponsorships

Article Abstract:

Rockwell International regularly advertises over Australian air waves because radio is the main advertising medium in Australia, and Rockwell is bidding to build a combat suite to accompany the six diesel-electric submarines the Australian government has contracted for. Americans find Australia's radio to be relatively unrestricted, inexpensive and efficient, compared to Europe, where many state-owned stations impede advertising. In England, radio is cheaper than TV, and LBC Radio of London is used by Northwest Orient with morning and afternoon spots for higher audience statistics. The Wall Street Journal predicts that the seriousness of overseas radio, plus low rates, will encourage more American firms to advertise in the medium.

Advertisers who advertise in travel publications can expect to reach the international executive market. Though they do not reach the massive numbers that mass-market international weekly periodicals do, travel periodicals can reach specific audiences.
