The sky's the limit as Phoenix seeks approval

Article Abstract:

Arizona-based Phoenix Sky Harbor's new master plan is slated to reach committee stage in 2000 as part of the lengthy approval procedure. The plan calls for the expansion of Terminal 3, which will replace the current Terminal 2. The 31-million-passenger airport, claimed as 'Gateway to the Southwest,' has delayed the completion of a third runway to Mar 2000 due to environmental and property hindrances. Yearly passenger traffic at Phoenix Sky Harbor is projected to increase to over 60 million by 2015, with 753,000 aircraft landings and take-offs.

Changing airport management for the better

Article Abstract:

UK airports have been enterprising despite operating in a national policy vacuum. Publicly-owned airport companies are taking advantage of business opportunities in the UK and foreign markets even as fiscal constraints limit their engagements. However, signs are emerging that the UK government may adopt a more flexible approach to the fiscal management of airports. Some publicly-owned airports such as Manchester and Norwich have been allowed since Apr 1999 to raise capital in the market.
