The unknown soldier

Article Abstract:

The Commission of the European Communities DG-13 (directorates-general) head Michel Carpentier believes that the key to reinforcing the competitive capabilities of the European Community's (EC) high-tech firms and to regaining representation in European markets that they have lost to foreign competitors is to be not to strong in all high-tech areas at all times, but to not be weak anywhere in order to avoid undermining the whole. Carpentier has identified the microchip industry as the key to economic growth for European a firms. Carpentier's task of keeping European high-tech firms competitive suffered a serious blow following the purchase of a majority of the assets of Europe's largest computer company, STC PLC, by a Japanese competitor, Fujitsu LTD.

Erotic ritual

Article Abstract:

Genet feels there is a relationship between flowers and convicts and that the fragility and delicacy of flowers are of the same nature of the brutal insensitivity of the convict. To portray a convict or criminal Genet would cover him with flowers until he disappears and appears to be a gigantic new flower. Criminals agree to be in a forbidden universe that others partake of in erotic play and then repudiate at dawn.
