There is demand for linen

Article Abstract:

Texlen (Trutnov, Czech Republic), textile firm, got out of a critical situation at the end of the 1990's. The main reason for the improvement is the extension of linen production in the Czech Republic. Texlen utilizes flax for the production of final goods. Texlen's success is based on exports. There is strong demand for flax products with a high added value on the European Union markets. The Czech flax crisis in the first half of the 1990's affected Texlen too. The firm saw a loss of CEK 87 mil in 1996. Areas sown with flax were enlarged by 150% in 2000 compared to only 2,000 ha in 1997. Flax was grown on areas of 20,000 ha in the Czech Republic before 1990. The yield of flax stalks is about 3 t per ha in the Czech Republic.

On the (R, s, Q) inventory model when demand is modelled as a compound Bernoulli process

Article Abstract:

The compound Bernoulli method (CBM), used in determining the reorder point s and the projected average physical stock level in an (R, s, Q) inventory model open to a service level constraint, superbly performed in almost all situations considered. The value of the simple expression for the projected average physical stock is inferior, hence, the use of the more complicated formula (8) is recommended. Illustrative models on how the CBM can be employed by management in practical situations are presented.
