They quench thirst in Germany

Article Abstract:

Prazske pivovary (PP) (Prague, Czech Republic), brewing firm, has acquired a 100% stake in its subsidiary Staropramen Deutschland (SD) (Germany). PP set up the subsidiary with two unnamed partners in 1992, when it held a 40% stake in the firm. PP's beer brand Staropramen has become Czech beer number two after Budvar from Budejovicky Budvar (Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic). SD will launch the beer brand Velvet to the German market in March 1999. PP launched the beer brand to the Czech market in 1998. PP produced 2.439 mil hl of beer in 1998, 6.4% less compared to 1997. The company's domestic sales decreased by 4.3% in 1998 compared to 1997. The sales of PP's beer brand Branik rose by 54% during the same period. PP closed two breweries and sold one brewery in 1998.

Otis will take over production from Germany

Article Abstract:

Otis (Breclav, Czech Republic), lift manufacturer, will take over a part of escalator production from a plant of the multinational firm United Technologies (UT) in Stadthagen, Germany, in 2000. The total volume of investments in escalator production at Otis, which is a part of UT, will be about 10 mil USD. The first escalator should be produced at Otis in October 2000. Some of Otis's employees will be trained in Germany.

Otis plans to invest

Article Abstract:

Otis (Breclav, Czech Republic), lift manufacturer, plans to invest 10 mil USD in an increase in its capacity in 2000. The firm plans to focus on the manufacturing of lift components and wants to export them all over the world. About 200 jobs should be set up at the firm's Czech suppliers within the plan. Otis is owned by the multinational holding company United Technologies (France).
