Three Levels of Exams

Article Abstract:

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. has ordered FDIC bank examiners to examine banks' investments while conducting core exams and to expand their investigation into banks' investment activities if certain conditions are not met in order to identify the soundness and security of suspect banks' investment activities. The examination of banks' investment activities will cover five different types of risk: credit, legal, liquidity, market, and operational. The examination will determine the ability and willingness of a bank's management to rectify any deficiencies in their investment activities.
