Society is developing in ways that are largely advantageous to women, who are adapting better to economic changes than men. Blue collar men are especially prone to negative conditions, as trends indicate women may continue to outperform men in both education and in professions.

The role of men has reportedly diminished greatly in recent years, and there is growing debate over the problems of 'downtrodden' men. This crisis of masculinity is thought to be the result of men's emotional illiteracy, lack of choices and the loss of their traditional roles.
