The increase in travel bookings through the Internet and the decrease in airline commission levels have caused economic difficulties for European travel agents. Travelers are utilizing the Internet because of the discounts and it is easy to use. Several travel agents are beginning to offer online booking services on their World Wide Web sites.

Eastern European residents answered a survey on their business beliefs and desires. A total of 40% value job security, 35% value money and 12% value career development as their top priorities. A total of 50% surveyed would like to own their own business although only 10% of those surveyed do so in 1998.
