Article Abstract:

The Transport Research Foundation's recent acquisition of the Transport Research Laboratory from the Department of Transport was supported by HSBC Private Equity. The financing package totalled 12.1 million pounds sterling including mezzanine loans and senior loan facilities. The finances were provided by management and HSBC. An overview of the background of the Transport Research Laboratory and the deal itself are included.

Keeping Schaffner on the pulse

Article Abstract:

The 1996 management buy-out of electro-magnetic compatibility company, Schaffner Elektronik, was led by HSBC Private Equity. Of the total 159 million Swiss Franc (SFr) acquisition finance required, SFr58 was provided by HSBC Private Equity and its associate Zurmont Finanz of Switzerland. An overview of the buy-out is included, together with sidebar articles on the history of Schaffner; the MBO team; and the investment.

Design and build a deal

Article Abstract:

Warings Construction Group was the target of a 12 million pounds sterling management buyout in January 1998. The buyout was vendor initiated and senior debt facilities were provided by Credit Agricole Indosuez. Warings is a 'design and build' private family-owned construction company formed 100 years ago. The company targets large construction projects valued at between 5 and 15 million pounds sterling.
