Travel-reservation firm Amadeus postpones share offer until next year

French travel-reservation firm Amadeus Global Travel Distribution S.A. announced the postponement of its planned initial public offering. Amadeus' bookrunner, Warburg Dillon Read, maintains that shareholders would announce the IPO on an appropriate date in 1999. The company was established in 1987, and is considered as one of the most profitable reservation agencies due to its $1.2 billion sales in 1997. Amadeus is owned by Air France, Iberia Airlines and Lufthansa, each having 29.2% stake in the company, and Continental Airlines possessing the remaining 12.4% stake.
