Tricky gizmos abound

Article Abstract:

Deregulation of Hong Kong's telecommunications sector has resulted in lower prices and more choices for the colony's consumers. For example, prices for international calls have declined by about 50% in 1996, according to analyst David Barde of J.P. Morgan securities. Competition is expected to be most felt in the mobile market as the market braces for another new player in summer 1997, boosting the number of players to eight. The cellular market is projected to grow to two million by 2000 from the current base of over 1.4 million people.
