Active Phased Array Radar is poised for operational tests

Article Abstract:

The pre-production model of Hollandse Signaalapparaten's (Signaal) Active Phased Array Radar (APAR) has been installed on Royal Netherlands Navy's land-based test facility in Den Helder, Netherlands. APAR's installation marks the beginning of the critical phase of the operational tests for the I/J-band multifunction radar system, which are exepected to be completed by the end of year 2000.

Trilateral APAR trials pick up speed after North Sea tests

Article Abstract:

Live flying tests of the Signaal advanced Active Phased Array Radar (APAR) were conducted over the North Sea. The tests were part of the trilateral Canadian-German-Netherlands trials program. APAR is an I-band naval multi- function radar that comprises four fixed active arrays that operate around 10GHz. It has been designed to be the key radar sensor for the latest generation of Dutch and German anti-air warfare ships.

Squire radars for Netherlands forces

Article Abstract:

Thales, formerly Signaal, expects to receive a $20-millon contract from the Netherlands defense ministry for the supply of 62 Squire battlefield- surveillance radars. Seven of the radars will go to the Royal Marine Corps, while the Royal Netherlands Army will receive 55 of the systems. The Netherlands government will provide Squire radars to its air-mobile, mechanized and Marine infantry battalions, tank battalions and reconnaissance forces.
