At the cutting edge: RMJM has refurbished a 1960s building to act as a showcase for Pilkington's innovate glass products and technology

Article Abstract:

RMJM, architects, has refurbished a 1960s building as a showcase for Pilkington's glass. It features a staircase with glass treads and risers bolted together with Planar connectors. There is a new south facade glazed with Planar structural glazing. The building features an exhibition area built around a central drum, housing a lecture theatre for video and film presentations.

A roof with a series of extended eaves details

Article Abstract:

The main entrance space of the medical centre at Arbroath is a double-height entrance atrium with a structure of exposed cylindrical steel columns and a braced steel roof with a sealed built-up roof system. The inbuilt system of the roof from various angles such as from parapet wall, at lower eaves, and at entrance atrium key, is described.
