Hiding from radar: stealth technology, the science of creating objects transparent to radar, has an increasing role to play in buildings close to airport runways

Article Abstract:

Stealth technology is rarely used in civilian buildings, but the British Airways' Compass Centre at Heathrow has been designed for radar transparency. Usually non-conductive materials are more radar-transparent, and some types of solar reflective glass can be picked up by radar. The inclination of the glazing on the north and south elevations of the Compass Centre reflects radar energy into the car park, but the plant rooms on the roof had to have a radar fence installed.
