Two-machine flowshop scheduling with availability constraints

Article Abstract:

The scheduling of jobs manufactured in a two-machine flowshop, which could be unavailable at certain schedules, is studied. A model dubbed semiresumable was developed to evaluate the problem, which is NP-hard. The semiresumable model is further subdivided into resumable, which enables a job to be continued where it was left, and nonresumable, which requires a job to be restarted. A condition wherein both machines are unavailable was also studied.

Single-machine scheduling with learning considerations

Article Abstract:

The learning effects associated with single-machine scheduling have been investigated, with special emphasis on meeting due dates and gaining short flowtimes. It was found that the single-machine scheduling problem can still be solved polynomially even with the introduction of learning to job processing times with respect to minimization of the deviation from a common due date and minimization of the sum of flowtimes.
