UK: FIS TO BECOME INVOLVED IN RETAIL INVESTMENT

Friends Ivory & Sime, Friends Provident's fund management division, is ready to penetrate the retail investment market. It acquired Friends Provident Unit Trust Managers in February 2001, in a share issue deal, and increased its profit to GBu 26.4mn in 2000. Penetration of the retail market offers the company a great opportunity for growth in the future, according to the chief executive, Howard Carter. The company plans to go public in 2001.

UK: BRITANNIC ASSET PLANS INVESTMENT TRUST LAUNCH

Article Abstract:

Britannic Asset Management is planning to introduce one to two investment trusts in 2002, depending on market conditions and opportunities. The company introduced a UK-equities-focused split cap investment trust in July 2001. Other plans include European expansion via a joint venture by 2003, along with management team appointments, and an assets under management target of GBu 25bn.
