UK: MARKET FOR ETHICAL INVESTMENT ADVICE TO GROW

Article Abstract:

The market for ethical investing advice will expand dramatically in 2001, says the Ethical Investment Research Service (Eiris). Ethical financial planning helps investors take into account social and ethical issues, such as genetic engineering, human rights and the environment. Eiris has published a directory of IFAs who provide clients with ethical investment advice following requests from investors. Eiris offers company lists, corporate reports and portfolio analysis to match clients with their areas of concern and help them develop an investment strategy. Clients are becoming increasingly aware of their influence over ethical investments, says Eiris. The claims of the IFAs listed are not verified in the publication and no recommendations are made.

IFA's sales however have increased by 48% compared to 1999, accounting for 61% of all retail sales in December 2000.

UK: ISA SALES TOP GB[pound] 1BN IN FEBRUARY

Article Abstract:

Sales of individual savings accounts reached the GB[pound] 1bn mark in February. The Association of Unit Trusts and Investment Funds said much of the funds were directed at technology funds and that investors failed to be put off by volatile markets. Autif pointed out that funds might be quite volatile in the short-term and should be taken out as part of a balanced portfolio.
