UK: STAKEHOLDER PENSIONS MAY PROMOTE SRI IDEALS

Article Abstract:

According to the Co-operative Insurance Society (CIS) there is a demand from 80% of consumers for them to be kept aware of the investment policy of their financial provider. The CIS also believe that the government should actively promote ethical investment through stakeholder pensions. Following discussions between the government and CIS about Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) and its expansion, it is proposed that the current rule for stakeholders pensions to provide a investment principles statement be extended to include regulations as to how this information is to be presented. 2000 saw good growth of 19% in ethical investments with a total value of funds coming in at GBu 2.193bn.
