U.K. forces Lloyds, Abbey to make other growth plans

Lloyds TSB PLC's planned acquisition of Abbey National PLC has been blocked by competition officials in the United Kingdom, forcing both firms to look elsewhere for expansion. The planned deal was valued at 19 billion pounds (31.56 billion euros).
