U.S. ambassador as truth teller in Jakarta

Article Abstract:

The United States ambassador to Indonesia, Robert Gelbard, is receiving criticism from Indonesian officials and legislators. It is not the ambassador himself that is upsetting the Indonesian government, rather the policies of tackling corruption, strengthening human rights, and following up on agreements concerning West Timor, that he is advocating for the United States.

The Foreign Ministry of China asked at any action be made under the United Nations umbrella, ensuring that China can exercise its power of veto.
