UK government bows to BAE ammunition argument

Article Abstract:

BAE Systems Royal Ordnance (RO) was awarded by the UK government with the contract for the development and initial production of a 120mm training round for the British Army's Challenger 2 tank because of its standing partnering agreement with the company. The deal, which was signed on Dec 21, 1999, states the government's approval in making RO its official supplier of a wide range of small to large caliber ammunition systems.

Horace goes on trial aboard RN carrier

Article Abstract:

EDS has delivered the first of 82 Horace meteorological forecasting and visualization systems ordered in Jun 2000 for the UK Royal Navy (RN). Currently, the equipment is on trial aboard an RN aircraft carrier as part of the Combat Support System. Originally developed by the UK Met Office to meet the country's military needs, Horace forecasting workstations are at present operational with the UK National Meteorological Centre, Royal Air Force Strike Command Defence Met Centre, and the Royal Navy Fleet Weather and Oceanographic Centre.

UK begins long-range guided artillery search

Article Abstract:

The UK Army has announced its requirement for a new long-range 155mm artillery projectile called Pole-Axe. Among the specifications are compatibility with the Somchem bimodular charge system and the capability to deliver a wide range of payloads with an accuracy of 15-meter circular area probable out to 60 kms. The artilery projectile is scheduled to be in service by 2010.
