UNIBANK SATSER KRAFTIGT PA NORDEN

Article Abstract:

The Danish bank Unibank is expanding on the Nordic market. Its Swedish capital investment company Trevise has been split into Trevise Private Banking, which is to target "rich" investors and has applied for approval by Swedish banking authorities, and the department for institutional investors, which will be operated by Unibank Investment Management in Copenhagen. Trevise Private Banking is planning to open branch offices in Gothenburg, Malm and Helsinki in 1999. Unibank is also planning to expand in Norway, possibly through Trevise.

POLAND: UNIBANK TO TARGET SCANDINAVIAN COMPANIES

Article Abstract:

The Danish bank Unibank owns a 40% stake in the Polish bank Bank Wlasnosci Pracowniczej, which is based in the Gdansk region. Unibank acquired the first shares in the bank in March this year, and has now introduced its own logo and changed names of the Polish bank to BWP Unibank. The main target group is Scandinavian businesses. 1,600 Scandinavian companies operate in Poland, 300 of which are Danish, and the number increases continuously. In addition, major Polish businesses which operate in the Nordic countries will be offered services.

SWEDEN: NORDEN MAKES ACQUISITION

Article Abstract:

Four blocks of flats, totalling 5,200 sq. metres, in Malmo, southern Sweden, have been acquired by real estate company Norden. The price was SEK 35mn (USD 4.2mn).
