UNIM details reserves to benefit shareholders

Article Abstract:

Unione Immobiliare (UNIM) of Milan, Italy, has assets of one trillion lire ($616.5 million) that the firm intends to utilize for the good of its investors. The company, which is expected to become independent of its parent, Istituto Nazionale Delle Assicurazioni (INA), soon, also announced that it will post positive earnings for 1998 after reporting a 54.5 billion lire proforma deficit in 1997. UNIM, which might use its liquidity to issue extraordinary dividends to its shareholders, is expected to become the biggest real estate investment company to be traded at the Milan stock exchange when it becomes a separate firm.

Aerospatiale aims to form alliance of missile firms

Article Abstract:

Aerospatiale SA and Matra plans to create a big pan-European missile alliance through partnerships with other companies in Italy, France and Britain. According to the merger between Aerospatiale and Matra, called Aerospatiale-Matra Hautes Technologies, the alliance should include General Electric Co. PLC of Britain, Thomson-CSF of France and Alenia SpA of Italy. The integration of Aerospatiale's missile operations with Matra is expected to create huge operation, with annual sales of approximately 15 billion francs.
