UPM's profit rose 62%; firm sees tough quarter

The figure results after adding 3.41 markkaa in capital gains from share sales. The company says pretax profit for the third quarter was 2 billion markkaa, including capital gains of 569 million markkaa. The company cautions that a lower demand for paper will yield negative results on the present quarter's figures. UPM also warns that the business situation is weakening in the forestry products sector.
